Hello and welcome back! My name is Dr. Cheryl Lentz, owner of The Refractive Thinker® Press. Today our focus for Tips for Effective Dissertation Writing is on Anthropomorphisms.
We begin first with a definition.
What are Anthropomorphisms?
According to Merriam-Webster (2012),
an•thro•po•mor•phism
Definition of ANTHROPOMORPHISM: an interpretation of what is not human or personal in terms of human or personal characteristics: humanization
[Definition from: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/anthropomorphism]
Please note the following examples:
Incorrect: The article discussed why research is important to students.
Correct: Smith (2012) discussed the importance of research to academic students.
Remember that an article cannot discuss anything. Only the writer or a person can discuss.
