Dear colleagues
Our focus this week focuses on how we write for our audience, specifically an international audience. Our goal as writers is often to offer as broad a reach for our writing to touch many in our audience. However specific audiences often require unique writing solutions.
As writers, we create stories for our audience to better understand the ideas we are attempting to convey. However what happens to those ideas when we look to an international audience? How do we avoid the use of slang and colloquial expressions unique to our language and understanding?
What then is the answer? Often clarity and simplicity work best. Remember, our goal is not to leave any questions in the minds of our audience. As a result, we must be careful when we use humor or when we integrate iconic references or colloquial expressions. Try and remove these from your writing so as to remove any barriers to understanding.
My best to your writing efforts this week!
With respect,
Cheryl
