Lead From Where You Are . . .

Hello colleagues

In looking forward to the new year, many have asked, what are you going to do this year?  My response: Play at the big table.  For many, this may not be clear, so let me explain.

For me, life is about Lead, Follow, or Get out of the Way.  The purpose is not to wait to lead until you arrive somewhere, but to Lead From Wherever You Are. Remember, leadership is not a title, but a verb and a function.  We do not lead only when we become a CEO.   If we look at the true definition of leadership–the ability to influence others—our goal is to simply lead from wherever we are TODAY!

There is no waiting until we earn promotion or until we find ourselves in the C-Suite.  Instead, we lead along the way.  John Maxwell has a wonderful book: The 360 Degree Leader where one can lead from below, from across, or from above (Maxwell, 2010).

The only question then that remains to ask is when will you beginBegin today.  Do not delay.  Follow the Law of GOYA and just begin wherever you find yourself.   The world awaits the gifts you have to offer.

My blessings to you for a wonderful 2015.

I look forward to seeing your results in the months ahead. Will you join me at the big table?  I’ll write your name on the place card . . .

My best,

Dr. Cheryl Lentz
