Good morning Colleagues
I want to share a new experience I had with learning to embrace simplicity as part of writing. In a new collaboration for a new book to be released this spring, my writing coach offered the use of Crayola® Crayons. I was a bit giggly at first. Really? You want me to write in crayon? *wide eyed grin of surprise*
So off to the store we went in search of crayons. Believe it or not, I could not find the jumbo box, but settled for the box of 16.
What fun I had writing my outline in crayon. The smell returned me immediately to my kindergarten days, complete with pig tails and patent leather shoes. *Grins*
What amazed me most was the kinesthetic affect (one of the 3 ways of learning). By having the crayon in my hand, I forced myself to think as if I were 6 years old again. The lesson learned here is the ability to think in simple terms is enhanced by the simple tools in the laboratory of a 6 year—the tried and true Crayola® Crayon.
With respect,
Cheryl
