The Art of Writing as a Doctoral Scholar: Third Person . . .

Colleagues

In discussions with my students this week, I am concerned regarding the amount of push back regarding third person.  As one moves forward towards writing the dissertation or the doc study, the language of the doctoral scholar is third person. As each writing opportunity presents itself, let me invite encouragement to writing in this third person style.  The goal is not to be punitive or harsh, but to offer practice in writing in this style so that upon graduation, this style comes more naturally.

Be sure to share your strategies of how you encourage third person in your teaching and writing. We look forward hearing from you.*Smiles*

With respect,

Cheryl
