The OREO Writing Strategy

Dear reader
When we think of the OREO COOKIE we think of the black cookies with the creme filling right? Let’s put this into a writing context

Many students often forget the bookends of the cookie when writing. They go straight for the middle. They jump into their room as one might jump into the middle of a conversation.

Instead, may I recommend that you think of an OREO COOKIE when your write. Begin with an introduction first. Twist off the cookie first, right? You have to tell your reader what is to come first, THEN you can get to the business of the details–or the creamy center.

Then when the paper is concluded, we need the other side of the cookie.

Tell them what you’re going to tell them (OREO COOKIE), tell them (Creme filling), tell them what you told them (OREO COOKIE)

Then when you’re finished writing. Time to have a snack.

Happy Writing.

My best,
